Ok so you wanted Hillary Clinton to win. But she didn’t. If you are so crazy that you want to now vote for John McCain and Sarah Palin because Hillary didn’t win then I ask you to please take 2 minutes out of your life to read the following article by Gloria Steinem.

The Human Rights Campaign released a report on Senator John McCain, who unless you live under a rock, you know that he is the Republican candidate that is running for President of the United States.

Remember how I harp on ya’ll how important it is to vote.  Well before you vote it’s super, duper important to do your research and websites like hrc can help you with that.

So it turns out since so many gays and lesbians are being kicked out of the military courtesy of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” that the Army and the Marine Corp are turning to letting in convicted felons instead.

Yep..it’s true. Burglars, people with drug offenses, people with sex crimes offenses, people with aggravated assault offenses and even people with manslaughter or vehicular homicide convictions are being allowed into the miliary.

This is happening because the military is losing about 2 gay and lesbian recruits a day because of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” And mind you these are well-qualified individuals (minus the felon background) alot of which have speciality qualifications that aren’t that easy to find and the only reason they are being escorted out of the military is because they are gay or lesbian.

Honestly, this may sound horribe, but I’m going to say it anyway. I don’t understand WHY any gay or lesbian person in the United States of America would want to fight for this country. This country doesn’t accept you even as military personnel and not only that you aren’t even entitled to any federal benefits, rights or protections in this country because of the Defense of Marriage Act. I think I’d be more interested in fighting for my country when my country became more interested in treating EVERYONE equally.

Maybe that’s a bad attitude I have there, but although we live in what’s suppose to be the greatest country in the world…it still blows my mind how screwed up our country is. We STILL can’t even treat everyone equally and it’s 2008, people!

Lawrence J. Korb, who was the Assistant Secretary of Defense under Ronald Reagan, testified before the House Committee and urged them to strike down the ban on openly gay troops.

Mr. Korb blasted the policy and urged lawmakers to “get rid of outmoded social restrictions” like “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” He also went on to suggest that the ban was “counterproductive to military readiness.”

The numbers that Mr. Korb cited to support his case were staggering. He stated that “more than 10,000 personnel have been discharged as a result of this policy” over the last decade, “including 800 with skills deemed ’mission critical,’ such as pilots, combat engineers, and linguists.”

Mr. Korb states that, “the Army and Marine Corps cannot afford to place unnecessary obstacles in the way of qualified men and women who want to serve.
